“It’s not something you get training for, or much advice beforehand, and suddenly being faced with restricted eating or binging or purging completely threw us into confusion and anxiety.
It made us question ourselves and our parenting skills.
Understanding why and whether what we were facing was typical rather than ‘just us’, was really important.” (www.anorexiabulimiacare.co.uk).
If you suspect that someone you love and care for is struggling with food please get in touch. I am here to listen to you and to encourage you during this very difficult period, letting you offload some of the tension and heartache. I speak to many parents each month with children ranging from as young as four years old, to those in their twenties, thirties and beyond. I want you to know that however old your child is, you are always a parent.
I know from feedback from parents, that trying to make sense of disordered eating or eating disorders is something needed by family members.
